If it's June, it time for me to tell you that I and my team, PIoneer Valley Habitat Rides 4 Food, is entered into the Western Massachusetts Food Bank's 15th Annual Will Bike 4 Food event, on Sepember 21, 2025, starting and ending in Hatfield, MA.  We were the top fundraising team last year and we hope to reprise that performance, while increasing the take for the food bank.

We do it because we love cycling and and we love our neighbors who are living food-insecure lives amid the plenty of our society.  The food bank's mission has only become more challenging with federal cuts of $400,000 to this food bank alone.  And, of course, given our roots as a Habitat-themed team, what connection is more basic that food and housing?

For those of you who followed my recent Best Buddies ride fundraiser, you already know that may be shifting my focus from the 100 mile ride to the 50 this year at the food ride, as an accommodation to my cranky body and aging but still willing spirit!

I am working hard to prepare for this great event, and hope that you will join me in spirit, and tangibly, by helping to feed people who need the assistance at this time of rising prices and shrinking resources.

Each year, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts and supporters like me get together for a memorable day of biking to raise money to help neighbors experiencing food insecurity. This year, The Food Bank is also commemorating its 40th anniversary, and recognizing 40 years of partnership with local organizations and individuals alike that make its mission possible.

In addition to raising awareness, Will Bike 4 Food raises funds that are vital to the success of the mission of The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

By donating, you're helping me help to provide meals for neighbors in need, and letting friends, family, coworkers, customers, and clients know that ending hunger in Western Massachusetts is an issue that’s important to you.  Helping someone here, while local, helps the entire society.

With your help, Will Bike 4 Food can exceed last year’s $250,000+ raised, which will provide 1/2 MILLION or more meals to families struggling to gain access to healthy and nutritious food.
