I'm Marching for The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts Again this Year!
Welcome to my March for the Food Bank fundraising page. While I was walking Camino Portuguese last September, I decided that if I could walk 165 miles up the coasts of Portugal and Spain, I could March from Springfield to Greenfield, MA to raise money for the food bank.
I raised over $4,000 and was one of the top 10 individual fundraisers. This year, I have joined the top fundraising team, Cultivating Generosity, which raised over $40,000 last year. The team includes many long term dear friends, WMass cultural movers and shakers, a selectboard member and several state reps
The first day, 17 miles, went well and I spent the night in Northampton, thanks to Steve and Sally, so I could be at the 6am start the next morning.
That second day was long. It started out cold and rainy and continued until lunch at Berkshire Brewery. The skies cleared and we walked the last 10 miles up to Greenfield. We finished while being serenaded up Bank Row by the Double Edge Band, tired and sore after 26 miles. I did sustain a bone bruise injury that recovered after 10 days. I have better padded shoes this year that I've been breaking in this past week.
Please help me increase last year's fundraising to help make up for all the federal cuts to food banks and food voucher programs. Every $1 donated provides 2 nutritious meals to people facing hunger in Western Massachusetts.
I can't wait to do it again.
