March for the Food Bank Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost to sign up? Is there a minimum fundraising requirement?

There is no registration fee. The minimum fundraising requirement for adults to march is $250. There are no minimum fundraising requirements for participants under 18, but all marchers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

How long does fundraising continue for?

Fundraising for the March will continue through December 31st.

Can I register as an individual?

Yes! It takes just one person to create change, so teams of one are always welcome!

If I march, do I have to do the whole 43 miles?

No, you can choose to march just one of the two days (11/24 from Springfield to Northampton and 11/25 as the march goes from Northampton to Greenfield) or just a portion of the route. Find where to link up with the March as it moves using the Monte Tracker.

Can I fundraise without marching on the 24th and 25th?

Yes, "Virtual Marchers" are an integral part of this event’s success. You can organize a mini-march in your neighborhood or at your school, or host a small event with your friends to fundraise. Select "Virtual Marcher" under the registration options to register for this participation type. We are also offering a new opportunity, the Berkshire Mini-March, which covers 3 miles and occurs on Saturday November 22nd.

Is there a way for me to participate without fundraising?

Yes, we depend on volunteers to answer phones and take credit card donations at the Food Bank throughout the event, or as safety patrol during the March. You can also create your own cheering section along the route. For more information, or to sign up to volunteer, contact Alison Sjoberg at alisons@foodbankwma.org.
