Why Join?

The Food Bank relies on the support of people like you to fulfill its mission to build lasting food security by providing nutritious food and partnering with communities to end hunger in Western Massachusetts.
The Food Bank is currently serving over 123,000 people each month alongside our partner pantries, shelters, and meal sites across the four counties. We anticipate that this number will continue to rise in the coming years with looming federal cuts to crucial nutrition programs. This is why our goal for the March is higher than ever- $650,000.
When Monte Belmonte first marched the empty shopping cart from Northampton to Greenfield in 2010, he did so because he saw the way our communities are impacted by hunger and wanted to make a difference. 603 miles, $4,346,042 in donations, and hundreds of participants later, he has more than proven the power of community action.
When you join the March for the Food Bank you know you will have a tangible impact on hunger. Every dollar raised provides the equivalent of 2 nutritious meals to people in the region facing food insecurity and hunger. The individual fundraising goal of $250 provides the equivalent of 500 meals.
